History

The research activity of the Laboratory in the field of Synchrotron Radiation begins in 1978, with the participation to the "Project Wiggler Adone" (PWA) of INFN, led by E. Burattini, aiming at exploiting the X-rays emitted by the wiggler magnet of the Adone storage ring in Frascati.

1978 - Participation to the Wiggler Meeting in Frascati, and visit to the Desy Laboratory in Hamburg.
1979 - Visit to the Daresbury Laboratory and calibration of the crystal monochromator in the CNR laboratories of Montelibretti.
1980 - First XAFS measurements on the wiggler beamline of Adone.
1981 - Participation to the 1st Study Weekend on EXAFS, Daresbury (now considered as the 1st XAFS Conference)

1982 - The PWA activity restarts after a long shut-down of Adone. In September, 2nd XAFS Conference in Frascati.
From 1982 to the final shut-down of Adone in 1993, the Trento X-ray Laboratory participates with E. Burattini to the design and set-up of the two PWA-BX1 and PWA-BX2 beamlines, and performs regular activity of XAFS measurements.
